This is the definitive version, to my mind, and the Cloud’s at least. It is Richard Burton in the intro, which leads into one of the most poignant and beautiful songs I know of, and ever shall I imagine.
It speaks of something so very dear lost in an instant.
I bought the vinyl single of this song twenty-six years ago, and still it has me. As it always will.

It’s a powerful combination, and the words, always the words, I feel it conjures something without the need for this age’s insistent visuals. Something all of its own.

It harks back to my childhood, and the first time I ever heard it, and that was apart from ‘War of the Worlds’ as an album, it had me in tears. It’s so very beautifully sad. – sonmi on the Cloud

Yes, it is a melancholy song, yet I always enjoy listening to it, though that is perhaps due to having played it since I was so very young. I think I shall try and find something in the vaults that will be happier, for I do not wish to make you sad.
