A blinding binding, Come with me Into the trees We'll lay on the grass And let the hours pass, Enjoy the Silence, In flew a sea robin -There goes a narwhal, Mirrored ents, To risk it for a biscuit, We developed a code
An extraordinary, strange film that fits like a glove into this category, and walks a path that not all will enjoy. Esme did.
I had difficulty finding a clip which did not give too much away. Please refrain from watching the trailers, doing so will take away a great deal from the experience.
That sounds sufficiently whacky to be enjoyable. Bleak though.

Hello RS, that’s almost it in a nut shell. Though perhaps ‘whacky’ is too light. It is humorous, I laughed outloud which is rare for a film these days, but by gum it’s dark too.

So… “refrain from watching Trailers of the film, but then you dangle the carrot right on my nose!!!? (puzzled)
What are these forms of beguiling charms and trickery!? (wink)

Hahahaha! I watched the spoiler/trailer/hook you gave; looks worthy! But Lady Esme, will it make my Top 10 or 20 ya think? (wink)

It is, I know, thanks to your list (which I haven’t forgotten I’m just a tad tardy with general malarkey), …top twenty? Maybe. Some people would hate it, so it has a fair chance laughs.

Well, just from those first 1-2 minutes of the trailer/spoiler/hook — then I quickly stopped the amusing pleasure — and said to myself, “Self, this movie strikes me as another fabulous film I enjoyed years back: Death At A Funeral, British version of course! BLIMEY! Me thinks the Lady has chosen a winner!”
(tips his hat to her in fond appreciation!)

I’ve never heard of it! I’ll look into that, thank you Professor. You have me thinking of Harold and Maude now, a fine choice for my next offering when the time comes methinks. smiles.

I wish I had Netflix, or whatever, but I have such chronically poor broadband out here in between places. Anyway, I just read about this on some wiki page and still don’t understand what it’s about – sounds like just my cup of tea, seriously. John Reilly is great; Ben Wishaw irritates me. One thinks of lobsters, and Jayne Mansfield . . .

Hariod!! Reading a wiki page about the plot is the same as watching a trailer! slaps his wrist and sends him to Coventry for a packet of ready salted crisps as penance. You would like it mind you, I’ll see if I can get it on a stick and send it you. nods
John Reilly is indeed great and Ben will do just as expected as that is a trait of his character here I’d say.
For those who know nothing of Jayne and her Lobsters, I give you the following –

Well, it really does sound just like my cup of tea, Esme, so I look forward to popping the stick in the appropriate port.

Excellent. Thanks for saying so Yahooey. I know I have a good few followers who appreciate something a little off-slant when it comes to films. So many of them are repetitive dross these days.

So, I looked it up, and it’s not in the cinema, yet it is pending on iTunes till mid-month. Cannot wait. You inspired me to get out the house and go watch a film, which I thoroughly enjoyed as most probably you would too…

Inspiration, like gold dust, only much better. I’m glad! And the film you link to…only last night someone I know was telling me about it recommending it! Sync!

Like Swiss Army Man (2016), The Lobster (2015) is easy to dismiss as a weird comedy. But they are both highly coherant absurdist-dystopian films with much to say about modern society (as I’ve explained in my reviews).

You are spot on there, films like that are jewels I find. I’ll head over and give your gaff a gander . I’ve not heard of Swiss Army Man, it’s straight on my ‘to watch ‘ list now. Thank you, and welcome to The Cloud.

Visiting your blog is a kinda out of body experience that I’m looking forward to repeating often. Way cheaper than a stiff Scotch. Glad I found you Esme.

Hahahaha. One of the best comments I’ve had. I’m very pleased you found your way here. Do you have a preferred moniker, or use ‘Cine’?

Those who have penetrated my strategic defences loosely refer to me as Richard. When I grow up and fully realise my potential, I’m going to give myself a name like Theoi, Greek for goddess of clouds. You can then call me Oi for short.

I look forward to that day laughing. For now then, ’tis Richard, a fine name.
esme tempted to shorten it to ‘Dicky’ but not giving in upon the Cloud

Somebody once called me Dicky; it was a life-threatening moment that I hope never to confront again. I told the perpetrator of this crime that they may call me Dicky if I may call them Penis. They opted to call me Richard instead, which I applauded loudly and with gratitude. I only shorten names if I want to shorten the relationship.

Hahahahaha. I had already called for Police protection just in case the very idea had you all ‘Hulk-like’. No fears there, esme is just pulling your leg. (Your actual leg – no funny business)
I do know of someone called Richard Mittens, and his friends shorten his name to ‘Dicky’, and he allows them to live.

I do like the trailer. But, I’ll probably never see the movie. Unless it just happens to be one of those times I happen to be watching TV and there it is. And I say. Oh, look, there’s the move esme recommended. It could happen like that, you know.

It’s one I would particularly think you’d enjoy as it challenges the way humans view animals in a very novel fashion, so I hope it does come on TV at some point.

On your recommendation then, I will make an effort to come across it. Perhaps the video store has it I can rent. I will look for it. Just so you understand my seeming reluctance is not an affront to your suggestions, but I don’t have high-speed internet at home to stream, only a mobile phone hotspot that is blah. And right now I’m blah. And the boss may frown on watching movies at the office, even though we’ve more than ample bandwidth there.

Thank you Peter, you are lovely to reassure me, and I know should you find it, that you will find it very interesting, with some humour in there too. It’s shame about the streaming, but rather that and have the lake and greenery than a fast speed and be in a concrete maze I’m sure.

Just to be clear, esme. There is “high speed” satellite internet available to me. It is expensive, slower than one would like, metered, and possesses a monthly invoice with the power to put one in shock with the cost of overages. And so I’ve decided to do without. Oddly enough, as the crow flies, true high-speed cable is available a few miles away in the sprawling city of Henryville, population 1,905, give or take. We have a four-way stop there, you know. And a post office.
