Introducing Rosie, (aka Rosie-roo/the Rosester/Rosy-posy (pudding and pies), the new addition to the Cloud. (Esme lost her previous, beloved furry last August.) She’s a little rescue dog, part Staffordshire Terrier, part Dalmatian; slim with long legs, and lots of dots under her fur – two years old and saved from such a cruel home that her previous owner has been banned from keeping animals for ten years. (Esme believes that if you are cruel and neglectful enough to garner a ten-year ban you should be banned for life. Pfft) After being passed from rescue home to rescue home, she was eventually re-homed, yet returned again after two weeks due to severe anxiety separation issues. Then I saw her in a cage whilst visiting the rescue centre and fell in love. She’s been here on the Cloud for just over a month, and is slowly coming out of her shell. She’s very damaged, but getting there, and looking happier, and feeling safer every day. She’s absolutely beautiful, with the sweetest nature imaginable and this time, she’s home for good. – nods

I remember the time when I first got my dog (who, sadly is no longer with us- but was a Staffordshire Terrier/Greyhound mix) and had a rough start to life. When I first got him, he had already had a rough start in life, so when he was left alone, he was scared and chewed on things – shoes seemed to be Otis’ thing), but one time I came home and he had torn apart all my pillows and the room was covered in feathers – it looked like a snowstorm had passed through my bedroom) – and there was Otis, passed out on the bed, but smiling in his sleep. He never chewed anything again – it was such a beautiful moment to experience.He had worked through his trauma and found his home via exploding pillow therapy. Ahhh, dogs, the joy the bring us. Hahahaha, yes, my friend had one who systematically ate all her belongings whenever she left the house. She ended up building a tall shelf around the room and would put everything possible up there when she left – no furniture obviously, but thankfully he was keener on smaller objects, ideally ones that meant something to her! Shoes were always chewed up there too. He stopped eventually, about four years in I believe falls about Rosie is only interested in destroying the exit and windows because she wants to come after me. Nothing else on the Cloud is touched, which in a way is quite miraculous. She was caged for a long time they said, and left alone to the point where she hurt herself and has lost a front tooth in the process, so it’s quite a specific issue, but she’s getting better.Otis, great name for a great companion. There’s no way to explain the true happiness gained from a loving dog, and it’s an experience I hope to never be without for long. Thank you Harlon for sharing your story, Rosie seems to have touched many people today smiles a lot and hugs him. ❤

Thank you Professor, how kind of you, – shakes his hand – I think so too, she has a very sad look in her eyes at times, but the smiles are multiplying. She isn’t a slobberer though! She’s very lady-like is Rosie, crosses her paws and goes to great lengths to skip and dance over puddles and mud. – laughs.

Oh yes, definitely a Cloud dog. Precious. Love her eyes!! So happy she found a good home. I always get rescue dogs too. The one we have now, we found by the side of the road with 2 siblings – 6 weeks old! People! I don’t get it. She is 3 now. My last dog was Rosie, Rosie Posie Pumpkin Pie, Ro Ro, Rosicrucian, Rosalinda, etc. All Rosie’s I have known have been great dogs.

I don’t understand how people can just dump animals at the side of the road either. A friend of mine had one left outside her house once. He was walking up and down and looking lost. Her little boy (five at the time), spent a good solid three hours begging to take him in, and she agreed finally. Lovely dog too. My ex brother-in-law (who’s still a lovely part of our family) has two rescued Pyrenees. The big guy is so lovely and loving, having taken to the family rather quickly. The big girl took a while longer to come out of her shell, and is great with my b-i-l, my niece, and my sister, but still is trepidatious around everyone else. Every time I visit, I invest time in easing my way into her orbit. Little by little, I’ll get there. She deserves people who earn her love!

A few years ago, after having had my heart ripped out at the loss of my beloved Angie,I tried to rescue a Papillon, but the rescue, in Texas, decided it made more sense to place Lemmy ( no, not a nod to Motörhead, but rather a tasteful homage to JLG’s Alphaville) locally than to send him on a Spanish galleon headed for Bermuda. Go figure.
Instead, I now hang with Ariel–a five pound Papillon with an IQ of 137.
Rosie is a sweetheart. Keep her safe within the cloud of your care.

When I lost Lardy (don’t ask), I was that bereft. Unbelievable pain. Angie, what a beautiful name smiles. I understand now why some people can’t go through it again, but for me, well, I have the power to make another wee furry bod’s life happier, kinder, and therefore I’ll take the arrow again when it comes.
Lemmy will have found his place (can’t help seeing him with a bottle of Jack Daniels in his hand I’m afraid), and you have Ariel, a salve to the heart like Rosie I’ll bet. – nods I had to look up ‘Papillon’, there’s definitely the potential for an evil genius mode going on. You always have to watch the cute ones.

Kindness is the key, and if I had the capability I would rescue at least three more of them too. Oh Esme, your Rosie is simply gorgeous. Her smile in the last pic shows the happy nature she will grow into, in her forever home. In a curious coincidence, Rosie was also the name we gave to our little tortoiseshell cat…who we also rescued from a shelter! Great minds.
Our Rosie is has moved on from this life but it’s lovely to see another Rosie becoming happy and feeling safe. -massive hugs-
