"It is absurd to divide people into good and bad. People are either charming or tedious." - good old Oscar., and when they were good they were very very good - but when they were bad they were horrid, Be (ar) yourself, both and neither., For every bear that ever there was will gather there for certain because . . ., Got myself a pic-a-nic basket, hey boo-boo, simple Bear necessities, The Bear Facts
Twice Times – – Alan Alexander Milne
There were Two Little Bears who lived in a Wood,
And one of them was Bad and the other was Good.
Good Bear learnt his Twice Times One –
But Bad Bear left all his buttons undone.
They lived in a Tree when the weather was hot,
And one of them was Good, and the other was Not.
Good Bear learnt his Twice Times Two –
But Bad Bear’s thingummies were worn right through.
They lived in a Cave when the weather was cold,
And they Did, and they Didn’t Do, what they were told.
Good Bear learnt his Twice Times Three –
But Bad Bear never had his hand-ker-chee.
They lived in the Wood with a Kind Old Aunt,
And one said ‘Yes’m,’ and the other said ‘Shan’t!’
Good Bear learnt his Twice Times Four –
But Bad Bear’s knicketies were terrible tore.
And then quite suddenly (just like Us)
One got Better and the other got Wuss.
Good Bear muddled his Twice Times Three –
But Bad Bear coughed in his hand-ker-chee!
Good Bear muddled his Twice Times Two –
But Bad Bear’s thingummies looked like new.
Good Bear muddled his Twice Times One –
But Bad Bear never left his buttons undone.
There may be a Moral, though some say not;
I think there’s a moral, though I don’t know what.
But if one gets better, as the other gets wuss,
These Two Little Bears are just like Us.
For Christopher remembers up to Twice Times Ten …
But I keep forgetting where I put my pen.*
* So I have had to write this one in pencil.

“When you are a Bear of Very Little Brain, and you Think of Things, you find sometimes that a Thing which seemed very Thingish inside you is quite different when it gets out into the open and has other people looking at it.” – Pooh – smiles back. – Thank you Carmen.

A good way to start the day, I’d say, and I’m not the wuss for reading it. Or, was that wuss for reading? Whatever, thanks for sharing.

You’re welcome Peter – the simplicity of A.A.Milne draws me back again and again. There’s nothing complicated to fathom out in his words, and they usually leave one feeling warm in some form I find.
“Supposing a tree fell down, Pooh, when we were underneath it?’
‘Supposing it didn’t,’ said Pooh after careful thought.
Piglet was comforted by this.” – smiling

I’ve always hoped I wasn’t entirely beyond redemption, Esme, and this fabulous piece sustains me in my waiting. As an aside, then oddly enough I was this very morning examining my knicketies and wondering whether there weren’t too many bits ‘n bobs dangling from them. Nevertheless, the lace trim is still in good order, and though the purple sheen be now less pronounced, it remains curiously fetching in its antique charm.

Thank you Hariod – places upon his head an enormous crown in the shape of a squatting bear, and thinks it suits him marvellously

It is isn’t it? There are some cracking quotes from the books, I could do several posts on quotes alone, but shall not do so and that’s not what I’m here for – nods smiling
“Hallo, Rabbit,” he said, “is that you?”
“Let’s pretend it isn’t,” said Rabbit, “and see what happens.”
