I have Pondering Mind to thank for alerting me to the fact that I have had no visible ‘like’ button on any of my posts. This will have dated back to January this year when the cloud and I first alighted here. People could ‘like’ from email alerts only. Not knowing this, I simply saw the odd like and assumed said button was working. It was not.
I have communicated with a ‘Happiness Engineer’ on the forum and he directed to the setting I had inadvertently missed. I now have like buttons on all posts. Therefore I shall be reblogging every single post published since January in order to garner the likes missed.
Of course I’m not doing that. I am not some kind of dribbling eejit.

Oh no, no, no, please do not think that, I have none of the sharing buttons up on purpose, Facebook and the like. (I do not wish to be ‘twittered’), and that’s omission by choice. I’ve gone to a few blogs which have no ‘like’ option and like you, assumed it was a decision made by the author. I’m just pleased to have found out. 🙂

I’m with the Gator Gal on this one… You did have the like button on the previous theme but after the revamp the cloud was sans button and I just figured, well… you know.
I must say that not having the WP Like button has acted as a bit of a prompt to get me to leave a comment to express what might have otherwise resulted in the requisite clicky-click-and-away… So I could see why one would elect to forgo the gizmo.
To be honest with you on this, I will probably click LIKE on any blog I frequent just so I will know I have seen the post (especially if my goal is to consume the complete work of a blogger.) In these cases my like may simply mean been here done that.
Most times I don’t officially even “Follow” a site I just link them on my page and launch my browsing from there and visit whoever I feel like whenever I feel like it. Blog following could get to be a full time gig so it is nice having these little markers to keep track of my comings and goings.
Yours’ is a likeable blog so don’t worry about that 😀

Really. You make an excellent point re leaving a comment as there was no like button. I like a like as much as the next bod that likes a good like of an evening, but I find interaction through wordplay more interesting by far.

Now, as one who is regularly garnering likes I’ve missed, or otherwise, I could not bring myself to use the newly installed ‘like’ button on this particular post feeling that my insatiable hunger for likes was being, as they say, “poo pooed”. However, I am glad to see the like button available on your blog in general, but with that said, I will try my best (and how that is measured is beyond our knowing) not to act like some kind of dribbling eejit who goes about “like mad” liking every damn thing. And believe me there are some serious cases of like madness out there wandering the streets of the internet at all times of the day and night.

Ah no, but you see you have taken my poo-pooing from the wrong angle dear President, for I was meaning that only a dribbling eejit would consider re-blogging everything they have ever previously written on having realised that the ‘like’ button was not there. Wanting to collect upon my own writing as many as possible, those that may have been missed as though saving up cigarillo cards for a fondue set. In as much as, I did not mean going around liking other folks work was to be pooed upon mockingly, it is a good thing to show you like peoples, poodles and peepholes posts, I was merely saying I am not so vain nor insecure (as of yet) to feel the need to beg for more said likes for myself. I hope that is as clear as sifted mud.
Now having said all that, I do not like every single post anyone I follow has ever written, because I feel that does not show how special some are in comparison to others, yet bear in mind the fact that some more than others would like to have said likes and so try to accommodate without getting finger happy, (as the actress said to the Bishop.) I also don’t see much point in ‘only’ liking and never ever commenting. Interaction is a pleasant practice with like minds (no pun intended, though it’s not a bad one, even if I say so myself.)
I’m laughing still at your use of poo-poo. In my land that is a most hilarious subject.
