Bitter love a violet with it's crown of thorns in a thicket of spiky passions spear of sorrow corolla of rage: How did you come to conquer my soul?
The Cloud Concise Dictionary of Sparkling and Strange Words presents;
er·i·na·ceous – er-uh-ney-shuhs
Of, pertaining to, or resembling a hedgehog,
*see Martin Freeman
Comparative – more erinaceous, superlative – most erinaceous
From the Latin ērināceus
A group of hedgehogs is known as an ‘array’.
The Sea Urchin was names after the hedgehog, as originally the hedgehog was referred to as ‘urchins’
Medieval bestiaries and illuminated texts from the 15th century depict hedgehogs gathering food with their quills.
One of the lesser known Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales is called ‘Hans my Hedgehog’ the subject matter of which revolves around a boy who is half hedgehog. Really.
As you may have noticed I just ‘Liked’ this post, I was the first to ‘Like’ it actually. Though that is not unusual, I am always, oh, wait, the word is ‘erinaceous’, I thought it was ‘truttaceous’, but, no, no truttaceous has to do with things resembling or pertaining to trout, nothing whatsoever to do with hedgehogs like, you know, “Fish of a truttaceous kind”. Sorry about that. I still like this post.

I have to say I was relieved to find out you had not decided to ‘un-like’ on the basis of the resemblance to the mammal in question or the fish. You have balanced the ‘scales’ there with your truttaceous antics (now there’s an image, perhaps an alter ego of yours is moby, rather than moby being an actual fish.) I am also seeing a picture of a ‘trout pout’, which in this land is what happens when women pump their lips full of fat from their bums believing it to be an attractive look, when actually they tend to resemble a cross between Daffy Duck and Marlon Brando had he been born a fish (The Codfather.)

Scales! Yes, it could go either way there, but hopefully not in a way furfuraceous. Ha ha, another word ending in aceous which is enough to make one nauseous

Furfuraceous is superlative, I’m impressed and could easily choke with shock at such a gem and find myself violaceous of face. Let’s hope not eh? For there are some things one can never choke about.
My array of hedgehogs have liked your post.
I knew you’d have some. Stay spiky my friend 😉

‘The best’ is an accolade I accept with pleasure too, so thank you Jan 😀
I always say that of you’re going to so something, do it very well indeed, with a spot of cunning thrown in at the end 😀 I’m sure that not everyone who passes this way picks up on them and follows that particular path.
