This is quite heartbreaking… It was only last week that my wife and I set down to enjoy The Fisher King for the first time. I was totally moved by the acting talent he displayed; it was like no other film I had ever seen him in. I find it more than ironic that he resonated so perfectly in the role of the mentally troubled intellectual. I will now forever think of him as such.
Yes I was thinking the same myself after posting said film last week. Of all his roles I think it was the one that really highlighted the pain of mental illness, yet he still managed to raise a few smiles too. And that was his specialty, laughter. One Hour Photo is another unusual film he starred in, a straight role that he really deserved an award for I thought. I loved Mork mind you, he was integral part of my childhood. I even had rainbow braces I wore to primary school, much to the merriment of everyone else.
No. Here are some sage words from Charles Bukowski on the matter –
it’s strange
it’s strange when famous people die
whether they have fought the good fight or
the bad one.
it’s strange when famous people die
whether we like them or not
they become like old buildings old streets
things and places that we are used to
which we accept simply because they’ve been
there.
it’s strange when famous people die
it’s like the death of a father or
a pet cat or dog.
and it’s strange when famous people are killed
or when they kill themselves.
the trouble with the famous is that they need
to be replaced and they are never exactly
replaced, and that gives us this unique
sadness.
it’s strange when famous people die
the sidewalks look different and our
fingernails look different and our bedmates
and our curtains and our automobiles.
it’s strange when famous people die:
we become troubled.
Much sorrow indeed. He was a wonderful person who touched many people in a positive way.

He struggled all of his life with Demons.
If only we could have chased them away for him.
Tragic.

He did yes. It is often the way that those who make us laugh the most, hold a deep entrenched sadness within them. Depression is a cruel condition.

The last time it hurt this much, was when John Denver died.
These were two VERY special people to me.
