Although I generally do not tend to have re-blogs on the run, I saw this and it was so well written, and summed up my thoughts on Doobster leaving well. I hope he comes back, he’s quite the tonic and a very funny entertaining blogger. I miss you too Doobster.
I have no idea why Doobster418 has decided to cease blogging, and I don’t want to speculate, but I will miss him. It was due to his encouragement that I started blogging in the first place.
His blogs were intelligent and witty, and covered a wide spectrum of thought and ideas. In an environment where there are too many strident voices, his was a breath of fresh air. I didn’t always agree with him, but I always enjoyed his posts and comments
Although he has gone for now, I hope that some day we might be graced by presence again.
Doobster, I wish you well in whatever endeavours you undertake, and if possible, do drop in from time to time.
That’s a surprise; I had no idea.

Ah yes you were away. Control your sobbing and wailing H – you’re making a scene.

Well, despite my famed loyalty, I had in fact unsubscribed last month, needing to thin the incoming, so to speak. I do so hope that the minor damage thus inflicted on our friend’s minutely-scrutinized stats did not trigger an existential crisis within. If so, then I suspect the Doob’s just ‘gone private’ whilst the therapy takes effect. He will arise, ere too long, of that I have no doubt; perhaps with an alternate sobriquet?

Oh yes. He has just gone private, he said he was going to in his last post before the blog disappeared. I hope he’s ok, but glad he’s still blogging even if I can’t see it, for writing is such a balm at times.

Yes, an occasional break from interaction is perhaps not such a bad thing. As long as his reasons for the hiatus are not health-related, then we can wish our friend well as he enjoys some time away from the pressures of maintaining such a busy blog amidst an already busy life. And so true what you say, writing can be both a balm and a catharsis, at times even a way of discovering what it is we’re thinking at the deepest levels.

With so many comments to reply to as well…I’d probably high tail it myself.

Hello there OM! I’m glad my jesting about Doobster’s stats wasn’t deemed inappropriate by you, or Sonmi, and that our mutual friend is simply taking a needed break from his obligations to a prolific output and otherwise ceaseless interactivity. As to your kind question, I have been fine, and thank you for asking – not a trace of dandruff or anything otherwise untoward. I have also just been on a tremendously exciting tour of England, taking in some old faces, a few of which now seem barely recognisable from when I last cast eyes upon them. I live a very isolated existence you see, with none of this social media nonsense going on and keeping me abreast. I wish you well my friend, and may good health and contentedness be with you always.

Glad to hear you have been well. Living an isolated existence isn’t bad as long as you don’t feel lonely or get bored of being with yourself. I think most people run away from their shadows and keep solace in being with large groups who they may not even like.
Thanks for the best wishes. I am well.
