Synchronicity – Mr Sumner.
With one breath, with one flow
You will know
Synchronicity
A sleep trance, a dream dance
A shared romance
Synchronicity
A connecting principle
Linked to the invisible
Almost imperceptible
Something inexpressible
Science insusceptible
Logic so inflexible
Causally connectable
Yet nothing is invincible
If we share this nightmare
Then we can dream
Spiritus mundi
If you act, as you think
The missing link
Synchronicity
We know you, they know me
Extrasensory
Synchronicity
A star fall, a phone call
It joins all
Synchronicity
It’s so deep, it’s so wide
Your inside
Synchronicity
Effect without a cause
Sub-atomic laws, scientific pause
Synchronicity…
You have made a much better fist of the subject matter than even Loudon Wainwright – and his was very good by the way.

I’m afraid (not to a point of hiding anywhere though), that I did not pen the above – it is a new category -Poetry in Motion – Perspicacious, and Ingenious Lyrics by Adroit Ink Slingers, for lyrics I find on a par with any poet’s. But it is excellent, and I have not added any links to the music, because the words should be judged for themselves without pre-judgement (ideally). A great deal of people dismiss lyrics because they come hand in hand with the personality and music of the singer/band. I aim to sidestep that problem if possible. Had I put the video up say, with the bee-man singing away, some would ‘write’ the words off instantly I reckon.
Can you give a link to the Louden piece, I’m intrigued. smiles.

Entirely different take yet herewith;

Plus for the sake of it a fine lyric by my youngest – a music technician with a 1st class degree and 150+ job apps applied for; zero replies – this is not mixed properly; is one of his old ones he hates yet I rather like; he doesn’t claim a great singing voice as he mainly just composes in the hope of selling stuff on…sorry to bore you!

No apologies, the lyrics to Louden’s offering are definitely a different take, laughs, great ending too.
Your youngster has talent, there’s some Bob Dylan in there methinks. I like the clean lines of a man and his guitar (or woman of course, hides her tambourine behind her back). I hope he gets some recognition for his words, or/and a job soon. Listening on – I particularly like his ‘Fault Lines‘ by the by.
I enjoyed all that, thank you Mike smiles.

Cheers, much appreciated on this day when I am feeling the after effects of blacking out and tumbling a full flight of stairs. Shirley I think is about to ban me from typing (my hand, amongst other parts) has the look of a purple cows udder about it presently…whinge!

You weren’t meant to be a trapeze artist, the sooner you accept this the better – winks. Seriously though, be very careful, and resist the drug that is WordPress for a little while as Shirley is absolutely right – . nods a great deal
(I’m liking the comparison of a bruised hand to purple cow udders by the way – unpleasant, but very visual).

Consider me stung by the man who said that The X-Factor had put music back by decades, and then wandered off to play his lute . . .
Seriously though, deep stuff from Gordy the Geordie. Did you know he and Trudie have launched a range of aromatherapy oils? – Massage in a Bottle.
I’ll get my coat.

long, painful, groaning occurs from the Cloud Hariod! Hahahahaha.
Don’t dis the lute H, nothing wrong with a good lute of an evening, or so we find upon the Cloud. Better than No/One/Cares Direction methinks. nods.

Oh, far from it, I quite fancied being a lutenist myself after getting into a bit of Elizabethan-period music. It’s a beautiful sounding instrument for sure. Gordy’s comment seemed a bit ironic though, and he did actually say that by the way.

Lutes, mandolins, mandolas… harpsichords! I’d love to have a play with one of those.
He’s not terribly popular, but I do like many of the band’s songs and his lyrics.

He suffers the Bono effect – another writer of great tunes that became far too popular for the cynics. It’s been going on a long time, just look what they did to Vivaldi, a great musical genius. Anyway, you did once play the mandola didn’t you?

That’s just it. He too has written some brilliant, clever lyrics on and off.
Vivaldi – no-one capable of creating such music should die in poverty say I (unless they are dastardly murderers or the like of course, then they can begone).
” Anyway, you did once play the mandola didn’t you?” – Although once mentioned in the past by the Cloud, this was never proven in court, and no charges were brought against me. Is there no sanctuary from an ignoble past I ask you?!!

Sting is going to kill me.
They aren’t my words dearie, no indeed, though are of course, easily good enough to be so – laughs but calls her solicitor all the same.
It’s a great word, and always has me in mind of mirrors, as one does just that sometimes – match and move with another, as close as a reflection. A dance in time. – makes a note of that for future reference
Thank you meg, the lyrics are meant to be something special, and you have proven that they are just that. beams a smile her way. ❤ Xx

Jung was certainly on to something when he wrote about synchronicity. Some things just can’t be explained through logic. Lovel lyrics 🙂

He was. There’s more to it than meets the eyeballs for sure. I like this other quote of his too –
“We should not pretend to understand the world only by the intellect; we apprehend it just as much by feeling. Therefore, the judgment of the intellect is, at best, only the half of truth, and must, if it be honest, also come to an understanding of its inadequacy.”
Nice to see you Emy smiles.

Thank you for distilling the original into this form. I am amazed quite often when I am writing, by the thought that sometimes arrives to remind me that the music I’m listening to has all the difficulties of the pen, plus those of harmony and rhythm and tone and texture as well. It undoes me from time to time. Such a challenge. I was thinking these thoughts just a couple days ago on the ride to work. Quite in keeping with theme of this work I suppose… The cloud has but a single time zone, does it not??? 🙂

You’re most welcome Michael. I know some people who quite happily say they have no idea, nor have any real interest in song lyrics, the music is all they are after. This is not a case of wrong or right of course, for the music always overwhelms the words for them, and that is their ‘bag’. I’ve always wanted to know the lyrics though. I recall sitting upon the Cloud many years ago, a wee child, patiently rewinding cassette tapes of music off the radio, trying to work out each line of words. This is not to say there aren’t songs that I enjoy which have simple lyrics, for I do, but there are many unrecognised poets whose words are almost hidden within their music. I want to strip them back to their origin – pen to paper (or as near as on screen). The tricky part is saying who has written the words, minus preconception. Or people thinking I have written them! – laughs.
“The cloud has but a single time zone, does it not???” – The Cloud is a little tricky – I’d say that for the most part it is here and now, in one time zone, however the transmissions/Fragments, and poems are from all over the cosmic/dimensional show. The Cloud does sometimes bend the rules of time and pop off to other planets, but usually that is purely for recreational purposes.
I’m sure that is now as clear as mud. laughs.
