Some captivating words from David Byrne here that earn him a well deserved place in this category.
And She Was.
And she was lying in the grass,
And she could hear the highway breathing,
And she could see a nearby factory,
She’s making sure she is not dreaming.
See the lights of a neighbor’s house,
Now she’s starting to rise,
Take a minute to concentrate,
And she opens up her eyes.
The world was moving and she was right there with it, and she was,
The world was moving, she was floating above it and she was, and she was.
And she was drifting through the backyard,
And she was taking off her dress,
And she was moving very slowly,
Rising up above the earth.
Moving into the universe,
Drifting this way and that,
Not touching ground at all,
Up above the yard.
The world was moving and she was right there with it, and she was.
The world was moving, she was floating above it and she was, and she was.
She was glad about it… no doubt about it,
She isn’t sure what she’s done.
No time to think about, what to tell him,
No time to think about what she’s done,
And she was.
And she was looking at herself,
And things were looking like a movie.
She had a pleasant elevation,
She’s moving out in all directions.
The world was moving and she was right there with it, and she was.
The world was moving, she was floating above it and she was,
And she was.
Joining the world of missing persons, and she was.
Missing enough to feel alright, and she was.
Mmmm…very nice Mr. Byrne and Esme. smiles pleasantly
I also replaced the past-tense “was” with the present-tenses… as I do so enjoy the moment, the little things in life.
Thank you Esme for this concerto of rhyme and rhythm. ❤

I’m glad you enjoyed it Professor, and that works very well indeed changing the tense!
I like it. In the moment, “right here, right now” – (to quote Mr Fat Boy Slim).
You’re very welcome good sir smiles back nodding.

Nice to see you my friend.
I like your poetry. You know I don’t comment much, and I blame my high school teacher for making it look like Greek

And you too mak. This isn’t mine mind you, they’re lyrics, and you might like them more if you hear the music too, and have a dance to them. nods smiling

Brilliant lyrics; philosophical too. Whatever is happening as awareness is what is. Even if it’s just caused by chocolate fumes. 😉

Very true, I thought you might approve Hariod – smiles You have to be careful when sniffing chocolate mind you, could easily end up twix the Milky Way and a Crunchie. Flaky situation, not easy to Fudge your way out of, before you know it you’re a complete Fruit and Nut. Still, we all need to work, rest and play to be fair.

Come now, it would take a fair old while for a Milky Way to turn into a Crunchie.
Hariod not letting anything set.

Akin to coal transforming into diamonds. But tasting much, much better.

Tubularsock has a practical question here. Was she smoking some of that grass?
“. . . and she was, and she was.”

No, twas acid apparently. Esme doesn’t need drugs to float around. A couple of Jack Daniels won’t go amiss mind.

Really awesome and quite visual. As I was reading, I was reminded of an image I had tucked away in my photobucket several years back.
