That film was by Jan van IJken, and to compliment it I give you the work of Doris Mitsch which she captures in her the mesmerising flight trails of bats and birdies.
Murmeration is a superb word, I’m sure you’ll agree.
We have hundreds of the tiny little ones here every night. Even had to rescue one once… but sadly it died.

Wow … love this so much. Thank you for sharing Esme🎈
We put up a bat house a few years ago, but there are only a few flying by and none settled in the house. May we all appreciate and protect these awesome creatures 💕

You’re welcome Val, incredible stuff! I have an acquaintance who studies bats for a living, he has one of the best jobs in the universe.

I kind of like bats but…that video was utterly terrifying. I kept wanting to duck. Amazing though.

They squeak well of you too. Hahahahahaha. I would love to have a job lot flying around my head, they’re very good at avoiding people, I’ve been out early evening before and one or two have swooped close.

Very nice, here’s one back:
I am not the pheasant plucker,
I’m the pheasant plucker’s mate.
I am only plucking pheasants
Because the pheasant plucker’s late… bows

They all had heart attacks, however, I can adjust it for you:
I am not the peasant plucker,
I’m the peasant plucker’s mate.
I am only plucking peasant
Because the peasant plucker’s late…

Wowsers, Esme. These are spellbinding dynamos most certain. A perspective from ethereal clouddom must bring these guys into a whole new spectrum of wonderful. How is the view from overhead? Murmuration is the perfect word for this phenomenon.

Mumbletones, of course! Hello dear Bill, it’s heady heights I hover from these days, the cloud has risen to give the birdies more space and also avoid potential mushroom clouds chasing it. Watching birds and bats is good for the soul, people should spend more time with them, murmering and mosying along.

Murmers and mormers and mimers. Hovering in the heights while watching those murmerational birds and bats, not flying together mind you. No, that would never murmerate well. Those mushroom clouds must enjoy joining in with the waves up there.
Murmering and mosying is a splendid way to greet spring’s harbingers methinks. Yes.

I must say all those marvellous words backwards to get the full power of them! I do love your words Bill.

Thank you so much, Esme. I do enjoy spinning letters into words, into certain murmerational worlds.
Cartwheeling backwards is beyond my ken.
