Very mellow. I like it. Thanks for sharing it Sonmi..

I’m glad you like it Doobster, I think it is the kind of tune that one can fall for instantly.

This is utterly deliciously gorgeous. It’s sweet and gentle and soothing. Everything I love. Thank you so much for sharing this. ❤

It is very beautiful Rachel, and I’m pleased you enjoyed it so much. Its the title theme of a film called ‘The Deer Hunter’, perfectly chosen too I’d say, though the film itself is quite harrowing. That’s why they work so well together mind you. Due to that, I find it somewhat haunting as well. Music has a profound effect upon the mind, it can heal you, or tear you apart. This one is a melody to hold memories if heard at the right time. ❤

Nice and very nice. Is that a left handed guitar?

Two ‘nices’ don’t equal a horrible do they? laughs. I suspect you know more than I about the guitar, though I naturally hold one as though left-handed myself, despite being right handed. I cannot play the guitar, I just like holding them finds this very amusing. True mind.

guitars can be strung right handed or left handed depending on the preference of the player. the graphic would indicate a left handed stringing. sorry for being picky. and yes I used to play…

“sorry for being picky” – not at all, though if intended as a pun then it made me laugh, if not, it still made me laugh so everyone is a winner. Partly through instruction and partly through a a chuckle gained. You used to play… sounds as though you regret stopping, or hated it, or killed someone with a guitar one day and that put you off, but I shall not push you there. (In case you kill me with a guitar).

Used to play is a sad rendition of ‘while my guitar used to weep’. Pun was unintentional. Maybe…
I have killed by way of neglect but never with a guitar or ‘ax’ if you will.

You’re a sharp cookie Donzo, and that piece mentioned is another solo I enjoy sometimes. Sad to hear of the neglect, another piece in the jigsaw that makes up the time we have here. But not a killer ax-man, which is always good to know. If you ever lead me into the woods, the wolves howling in the near distance, guitar in hand mind you…..I’ll be pegging it. I’m no dog’s dinner.

Being of Coyote Clan, I give wolves a wide berth. It’s always best to give wolves a wide berth. Did you know that wolves tend to warmonger? Well they do and we all know you simply can’t trust a warmongering wolf. Lone and/or otherwise.

Now the hungry lion roars
And the wolf behowls the moon.
“Wolf!” cried my cunning heart,
At every sheep it spied,
And roused the countryside.
“Wolf! Wolf!”—and up would start
Good neighbours, bringing spade
And pitchfork to my aid.
At length my cry was known:
Therein lay my release.
I met the wolf alone
And was devoured in peace. – E.S.M
I like the Coyote too mind you.
Ps – despite my in no way making it so (as the Captain would say), one line has made itself stand out in capitals. This was not intentional, and looks a little lunar tunes, but as the Gods chose to throw the dice that way, that way it shall stay.

It could be a right-handed guitar, with the strings on the wrong way ’round, Hendrix style.

Who is the guitarist?

The original piece was by Stanley Myers, and featured as the theme for the film ‘The Deer Hunter’ (1979). It works powerfully within the confines of what is a disturbing, but brilliant film. This piece is being played by Petri Puustinen. It’s often used as a classic piece to learn when taking up the guitar. I find it both beautiful and sad too. Thanks for visiting Ark – smiles.

I know the piece, I played it in my second or third year of guitar?r. I was half asleep and didn’t see Petri’s name on the video. Sorry.
The original guitar for the movie soundtrack was performed by John Williams.
I saw the movie in a cinema on Oxford road, London, soon after it opened. About three later I left England for South Africa.
Not a film I would willingly watch again. Quite harrowing.

I thought perhaps that was the case. I often miss things, it’s Cloudy up here you know.
I watched the film for the first time (I’d only ever seen parts of it previously), a few months before I posted the above music, after I had watched it a second time – mainly because it was so powerful, I wanted to see if it had the same effect when you knew what was about to occur. It did. Harrowing is spot on. An excellent film mind.
Cavatina was also used in a children’s art program I used to watch when a child called ‘Take Hart’ (you might know it having lived here). They played it when all the paintings made by the young viewers were displayed in the ‘Gallery’. So I now get a mixture of children’s art and horror mixed together when I hear it. But still enjoy it all the same. Being supernatural is quite a boon at times.
Thanks for visiting Ark. I’m glad your holey arm is healing. smiles.

Take Hart? Don’t recall it. Was that Tony Hart?
You’re in England?
I used to live in Chester.

Yes that’s the one. Hmm, it’s predecessor was ‘ Vision On’ – Tony was in that too. It had a chap on it called Wilf Lunn who built crazy machines that had all manner of whirling and bits-a-jumping and ball bearings being chucked about, and never seemed to actually do anything at the end of it. They were great. I am sliding off at a tangent here, but that’s a regular occurrence, so bear with. And yes, at present the Cloud is hovering over the UK. Chester is lovely, I’ve been many times. There are some cracking second hand book shops.
