The very best 2015 produced – I’ve enjoyed it mid-year on-wards. A video to consume. I knew nowt of the chap previously, and I’m not keen on the alternative video either, but this one, and the whole map malarkey going on is superb in Esme’s opinion.
With thanks to Vigilant Lens for introducing it to esme. shakes his hand. – (highest quality res, full screen recommended).
“Burned and blind…”
Damn, that’s how it works every time.

Love Cornell’s vocals. Was introduced to Audioslave late but became an instant fan.

I must explore more of his work, he sure can sing. *nods *.

A very fine tune, and well executed it seems to my, admittedly, increasingly ineffectual shell-likes. I can well imagine The Beatles in their early days having played this, and the thought came most strongly during the third bar of the chorus with that descending bass motif that McCartney often would use. And the bridge (1:55 to 2:19) is incredibly Beatle-like isn’t it? See what you think Esme, although you need to imagine the BV’s they would have added, and the floppy hair nodding around too. No criticism in the least is intended here by such a comparison, as everything in pop music is derivative in some degree, and all goes back to a drumbeat in Africa long, long ago, far moreso than a Hofner Violin Bass being plucked on Merseyside.
(Esme joined the two comments together here to link up)
P.S. Been humming that tune on and off for the past two and a half hours so came back and watched again along with the ‘hanging’ video – I agree, this one you post here is far superior in every way. After that, I went to his Wikipedia entry and found something that might explain my first reaction:
“Cornell spent a two-year period between the ages of nine and eleven solidly listening to The Beatles after finding a large collection of Beatles records abandoned in the basement of a neighbor’s house.”

It hadn’t crossed my mind there was any connection between the song and the Bestles, but having listened from that angle I can see what you mean. It took only two listens for me to fall for its melody, and the words, so there’s a big hook for the ear worm running throughout. I find the video mesmerising.
Thank you for your words Hariod, esme is in hangover land at present, so her eloquence is out to liquid lunch, and she is not managing much more than a few dribbles and primeval grunts.

First saw Chris in my drunken Air Force daze at a venue we called the ‘Boone Street Barn’ in Spokane, WA. Oh if those now demolished walls and parking lots could talk…

I am there at the moment. It is a pain. Being the moth, that is, rarely the flame.

The flames are dazzling stuff, and I’m sorry to hear you’re close to them.
The actual moths are being hood-winked of course, because it is the moon they’re truly after, the fatal facsimile is pure artifice, but one minus subterfuge. (Or so the fire sprites always insist.)

You know that’s an excellent point – the bouncing ball! Yes, often lyrics with videos look plain awful, this one employs a cunning device, a map that leads you all over the show whilst teaching you the words. Happy holidays to you too J.B and thank you for visiting the Cloud – smiles.
