An amazing machine! Incredible construction and the only electronics used are amplification. Read more about the ideas, engineering, and exactly how it works by clicking on the following link –
Wintergatan – Marble Machine
It knocks esme right out of her stripey socks does this marble marvel (she has a marble collection of her own obviously). Nice Steampunk feel to it all too – nods. Settle back and enjoy- hands out the popcorn and dims the lights.
Oh wow I just LOVE it!!

It’s brilliant isn’t it?! Did you ever watch ‘Vision On’ with Wilf Lunn and his own inventive machines?

I thought of him straight away. I the game Mousetrap too…I love machines that are human powered and the kinetic ones are superb too. nods.

What a chap!! A sort of mad professor but for kids. Mousetrap is a fabulous game! Of course, we didn’t really play the actually game, just set up the trap, mainly.
I think some of my marbles have gone travelling…

I know, he’s a fine English eccentric. A bit like Hariod in that respect ducks. And yes, I only played the game once, the rest of the time I was enjoying the machine hahahaha.

So do I! What a fantastic contraption indeed!
I wonder whether those 2000 balls are really marbles, as they look more like metallic balls.
If he could use two pedals so that he could power the machine with his legs in a manner akin to the player piano or the bicycle, then he could have freed up his hand(s) to do more during a performance.
For those who really like marbles, here’s a special post dedicated to them at https://soundeagle.wordpress.com/2013/09/25/marble-as-decorative-collectable-art-glass-toy-and-computer-game/

Aha! Of course, that’s what it is in effect, a huge clever hurdy-gurdy. Well spotted that man.

Wonderful, the culmination of centuries of hand-cranked melody-making going back to the 10th. century. Here is a depiction of an Organistrum which dates back to that time:

Oooooooooh look at that! By the gods that’s a lovely instrument Hariod, hand cranked too! Every home should have an Organistrum!

Thank YOU for sharing your cloud and the wonderful things you navigate me towards. It’s comfy, it’s cozy – it’s a nice place to be. Happy summer my friend, Harlon.

What a lovely comment Hanlon. beams a smile his way happily The purpose of the Cloud is to inspire and illuminate, to lift, share laughter and some of the wonders of this world (and the many universes within and around it), and yes, to be a comfy place to stop and rest upon. Thank you SO much for telling esme this. I’m really pleased you think so.

Astounding, Esme! Do you know why they call it something about the Milky Way? I feel I am missing something obvious, and it’s okay… 🙂
The thing that strikes me about this, and the scarecrow sculptures, is the amazing creative potential of the human species… What emerges from patience and attention. It is incredible. It is horribly shackled by various necessities and what-for’s on a daily basis, but when seen in its pure form like this, truly inspirational. They didn’t have one of those in my music class, sadly…

Because that’s what the Milky Way sounds like. This machine is just a scaled down version of the enormous one up there which makes a hell of a racket I can tell you, and I’m not even going to start on the size of the balls involved.
Patience and attention, yes! For some so difficult to harness, for others it seems they have been given said capabilities as a gift. Or a curse! Hahahahaha. People think they have not the time to create such wonders often, when it is not necessarily time they lack at all, but simply the will and the concentration. – nods a great deal

It has balls. And one must be careful where they place their fingers in such rotating mechanisms. I speak from experience. Of rotation, not balls. But of all the balls it has, and it has many, it has only one black ball. What’s with that, eh? BTW, hi. How are you?

Peter!! By the Gods it’s good to ‘see’ you! You know a great deal about the Milky Way methinks, but then you are a bright star and so would do – nods a great deal.
I’m reasonable. I bide, as best a bide I can. The Cloud makes esme’s existence a brighter one for sure. And you? How are you?!
