I searched far and wide to find a clip of this that wouldn’t show too much, give games away etc. The original trailer is terrible because it shows a great deal of the damn film! I cannot bear the trend for this practise these days.
‘What We Do in the Shadows’ took me by surprise. It made me laugh more and more as it progressed and is indeed an unusual take on a well used genre. If you fancy it do not read anything else other than these words, because you will always enjoy a good film more for knowing as little as possible about it. – nods
This clip will leave you no wiser, and is quite odd. The best kind of trailer I’d say laughs.
I once saw a girl at Butlins in Bognor dancing just like that.

Actually, that weekend was quite revelatory for an innocent like me. A friend’s father managed the complex so a group of us had a freebie new experience. The dancefloor around midnight was a scene of epic debauchery, the concupiscence scenting and thickening the air increasingly as the night progressed. I’ve booked two weeks for late October in my usual chalet.

Terrific film, and the director of it is now directing the next Thor movie. I find that to be quite exciting.

Oh! Someone who has seen it! Thanks for the back-up there Inspired, and I agree about Thor. The films have been improving and this can only be a good move too. nods

I can’t give away plots in advance, be they film or book. Usually I can find a more . . . enticing clip than this one laughs. Tis a light-hearted film, a comedic distraction rather than a life-changer, but good fun all the same.

Esme, if you gave away the plot, as most previews do in revealing all the best parts, then I could save several hours by not watching the movie, and still know enough about it to say I’ve seen it, and engage in conversation regarding said flick. And no one would be the wiser.

Peter, she’s told me – firmly – to read Cloud Atlas, so I’m going to read The Guardian review and then pretend I have. She’ll be none the wiser. 🙂

By a strange coincidence, “What We Do In The Shadows” was broadcast last night on one of our free-to-air TV channels. I watched about half of it before I got a little bored with it and decided that catching up on unread blogs would be more interesting.
I’m not sure why it didn’t appeal to me. Perhaps it’s because most of the humour is not particularly new (at least not from a Kiwi perspective), and for a comedy horror genre, it didn’t have much horror.
Comedy horror seems to a popular Kiwi genre, some other recent films being “Housebound” 2014, “I Survived A Zombie Holocaust” 2014, “Fresh Meat” 2012, “Rotting Hill” 2011, “Larger Than Life” 1997, “Braindead” 1992, “Bad Taste” 1988, and “Death Warmed U” 1984.

Well this category doesn’t list films that will be popular with everyone, or even quite a lot of folks, they are unusual for some reason. Some of them are awful films in fact, but a spectacle none the less (see Zardoz); others are incredible in both plot, performance and an absolute dream so far as a treat for the eyes go. I’m glad you told us about having seen it, more coincidences eh? Also I’d like to formally welcome you to the Cloud Barry, nice to have you pop on board.
